There are daring new restaurants like the modern Thai eatery Rice, the Studio and Source theaters, boutique shopping at stores like furnishings trendsetter Vastu, and-of course-Whole Foods grocery. Homes are only slightly less expensive than in Dupont Circle-from under $200,000 for an unrenovated studio to more than $1 million for a five-bedroom Victorian rowhouse.
