. Storehouse to get in on well-furnished 14th St. Scene
Washington Business Journal
By Ben Hammer

Along P Streep, it's getting easier and easier to grab a seat…and a leather sofa, funky lamp, couch or whatever you need to satisfy your inner interior decorator.

Home furnishings retailer Storehouse signed a lease for 8,123 square feet at 14th and Church streets NW on the ground floor of condominium building Lofts 14.

Storehouse (www.storehouse.com) is putting itself in the path of shoppers already hitting 14th Street to furnish their homes. Within a short distance of each are an eclectic blend of artsy home-furnishing boutiques such as Vastu and Muleh as well as fun and functional home-oriented stores such as Home Rule, Go Mama Go! And Garden District. Storehouse chose 14th Street even though it could have gone to more established neighborhoods such as Georgetown, says Scott Pannick, president of Metropolis Development (www.metropolis-dc.com), the owner of Lofts 14.

"It's an expansion of the furniture destination that 14th Street is becoming," Pannick says. "It's the first national retailer that's gotten 14th Street, so in a sense I think it says that 14th street has arrived, because a big player has come here."

Eric Ruben of the Madison Retail Group(www.madisonretailgroup.com) and Jim Blue of Blue Wolf Companies (www.bluewolfcompanies.com) represented Storehouse in the deal. John Asadoorian of Asadoorian Retail Solutions (www.asaretail.com) represented Metropolis Development.
